Shipping Policy
When your letter is mailed
- Join between the 1st and the 15th of any month (Japan time, JST).
- The deadline for next month's letter is 11:59 pm JST on the 15th.
- Letters are mailed from Japan on the 5th of each month. If the post office is closed that day, we mail them on the next postal business day.
- Example: join by 15 October (JST), and your November letter is mailed on 5 November.
- On mailing day, we email you: "Your letter was posted in Japan today."
Where we ship
The United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. Shipping is included in the price.
How long it takes
Your letter travels by international airmail as an ordinary letter. Usual time after mailing:
- United States: 1–3 weeks
- United Kingdom: 1–3 weeks
- Australia: 1–3 weeks
- Canada: can take longer
These are guides, not promises. Customs, holidays, weather and flight schedules can slow mail down, and we can't guarantee a delivery date. The December letter travels in the busiest mail season of the year and may take longer.
Why there is no tracking
Everything in the envelope is paper, so it can travel as a simple airmail letter. That is how we keep shipping included in the price. Tracking would add a lot to the cost of each letter, so instead we promise a replacement if a letter goes missing.
If your letter hasn't arrived
If your letter hasn't arrived six weeks after the mailing date, email us. Once we've checked your address, we'll send one replacement for that month. Untracked mail can't be traced, so a replacement is the quickest way to get a letter to you.
Changing your address
If you move, let us know as early as possible so that your next letter goes to the right place.
