Refund & Subscription Policy

1. What you are buying
Kotodama Letters is a monthly letter mailed from Japan. Each envelope contains paper items only: a folded letter, an original paper-cut artwork with its paper backing sheets, and small paper cards and a bookmark lightly scented with hinoki (Japanese cypress). The scent can be left out on request. The price is US$22 a month, shipping included.

2. How the subscription works
- When you join, you pay US$22 for your first letter.
- Your subscription then renews automatically each month at US$22 until you cancel.
- New members can join from the 1st to the 15th of each month. Orders placed by 11:59 pm JST on the 15th receive the next month's letter, mailed from Japan on the 5th (or the next postal business day).
- Each renewal pays for the letter mailed on the 5th of the following month.
- Founding 20 (November 2026 edition): registration 1–15 October 2026, letters mailed 5 November 2026, limited to 20 members.

3. Cancelling
- You can cancel any time from your account. There is no cancellation fee.
- To avoid the next charge, cancel before your next billing date.

4. Delivery
Letters are sent by untracked international airmail. Usual delivery times are shown in our Shipping Policy. We can't guarantee a delivery date.

5. Letters that don't arrive
If your letter hasn't arrived six weeks after the mailing date, email us. Once we've checked your address, we'll send one replacement for that month.

6. Returns
Each letter is a small paper item made for one month, so we don't accept returns. This does not affect any rights you have under the consumer laws of your country.
